Operation Hardcore: A Classic Side-Scrolling Shooter for Nintendo Switch

Operation Hardcore is a 2D side-scrolling shooter developed by Adam McLellan for Nintendo Switch. The game takes place in 1999, where an alien invasion is underway, and you, a total badass, must fight your way through 12 levels of explosive-y alien-blasting mayhem.

The game features four playable characters, each with their own unique abilities and weapons. You can double-jump your way around obstacles, activate your plasma-based shield to deflect enemy fire, and even slow down time by drinking some whiskey (at the expense of mental clarity). The game also features forced-scrolling challenges, where you can strap on a jetpack and get airborne.

In addition to the single-player mode, Operation Hardcore also offers 2 player local co-op. The game features modern sound design and electronic soundtrack by Snug, as well as modern particle/atmospheric and lighting effects. With multiple difficulty settings, upgrade paths, and secret areas, Operation Hardcore offers a lot of replayability for the overachieving, enterprising badass.
